Man arrested for 1992 school shooting

ROSENBERG, TX The Rosenberg Police Department received information that the suspect in a 1992 assault that occurred at Lamar High School was living in Schulenburg, Texas under an assumed name. Authorities found him at his apartment and when asked he identified himself as Humberto Garcia.

Garcia was arrested on an outstanding warrant charging him with unlawfully carrying a weapon on school property. He was transported back to the Fort Bend County Jail where he is currently being held on $25,000 bond.

Garcia was 18 years old when he was accused of bringing a handgun to the high school and shooting a 15-year-old student on the last day of class. Since the shooting the suspect is believed to have fled to Mexico and living under the assumed name.
