Body found outside old YMCA identified

HOUSTON Investigators say Carol Flood, 62, was found strangled behind a stairwell on October 10. A person passing by first noticed someone in the stairwell and called police. When investigators arrived, they discovered the woman had been murdered.

Authorities believe Flood may have been targeted because she was homeless.

Flood was one of two women strangled in the last month. On September 30, the body of 52-year-old Reita Long was discovered in a stairway behind the Chancery of the Archdiocese of Houston-Galveston. Medical examiners say Long was living on the streets when someone strangled her.

Investigators are looking at connections between the two murders. So far, no arrests have been made in either case.
