Houston man sentenced in La. cocaine case

BATON ROUGE, LA Chief U.S. District Judge Ralph E. Tyson also ordered 33-year-old Jose Ricardo Ramirez to forfeit $159,400 seized from a minivan he was driving to Houston in August 2007 after delivering 15 pounds of cocaine to Baton Rouge.

Ramirez signed the plea agreement Thursday with Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer M. Kleinpeter.

Ramirez also forfeited over $85,000 seized from a Houston home in December 2008.

Tyson said federal agents' discovery of submachine guns, assault rifles and thousands of rounds of ammunition at that home factored into Ramirez' lengthy prison term.
