Two killed when train hits ambulance in Ukraine
KIEV, Ukraine
In Wednesday's crash, police say an ambulance was hit by a train
outside Kiev, killing a pregnant woman and her husband it was
carrying, and injuring the driver and a paramedic.
Police say they believe the driver of the ambulance ignored a
red light and the siren of an oncoming train at the crossing.
On Tuesday a crash occurred in eastern Ukraine during which a
train destroyed a bus whose driver had ignored a red light at
another train crossing, killing 44 people.
Ukraine has a bad road safety record. Drivers routinely ignore
traffic rules, while aging cars and roads are badly maintained.
