Soccer coach dies weeks after lightning strike

PORTER,TX Franco Emmanuel Olascoaga had been in critical condition since he and a 9-year-old girl on his soccer team were struck by lightning on September 10. The girl, who suffered less serious injuries, was treated and released from the hospital.

The team was practicing on a field at Crippen Elementary School when witnesses said Olascoaga was hit by the bolt. The team wasn't a school team, but an independent youth soccer league.

Olascoaga died at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
