Speed may be to blame for fatal accident

HOUSTON It happened around 11pm on Kirby near San Felipe. Witnesses say the driver sped up to beat a red light and hit the median before skidding and slamming into a tree. The male victim, 35, was ejected from the car and taken to the hospital where he later died.

Authorities determined the victim was not wearing a seat belt. It is believed alcohol was a factor in the accident. The investigation is continuing.
