Study finds more gay characters on network TV
NEW YORK
The 15th annual "Where We Are on TV" report released Wednesday
found that 3.9 percent of actors appearing regularly on network
drama and comedy series in the 2010-11 season will portray gay,
lesbian or bisexual characters.
That's up from 3 percent in the 2009-10 prime-time season. In
2008-09, the increase was 2.6 percent over the year before.
On mainstream cable channels, the number of characters rebounded
to 35 after a two-year decline.
