The city of Galveston is revising its smoking ban. City Council voted on Thursday night to allow smoking in bars that qualify as adult venues. The businesses must post signs prohibiting people under the age of 18.

Smoking will also be allowed in private clubs and in outdoor seating areas.

The distance people can smoke from non-smoking businesses has dropped from 15 to 5 feet.

It goes into effect in about 10 days.
