Den of drugs, crime demolished in NW Houston
HOUSTON
The complex has been sitting empty for years at the corner of De Soto and Antoine northwest Houston
The place was demolished today, courtesy of the city of Houston. Back in 2007, the city ordered the condos vacated because of their dangerous condition. The buildings have been vacant ever since and neighbors say they have become a haven for drug dealers and criminals.
The mayor says she wants to send a message to other property owners who have left behind neighborhood eyesores.
"We're gonna use every tool we have to go after people who are not good neighbors," said Mayor Annise Parker.
The city has spent the past three years fighting in court to see today's demolition become a reality.
