School lockdown lifted after suspects arrested

Jane Long Middle School in southwest Houston was on lockdown briefly Thursday afternoon while police searched for two burglary suspects believed to be on the campus.

The lockdown for a Houston middle school has been lifted after two burglary suspects were arrested nearby. At about 2:15pm, Houston police responded to a burglary call in the 6400 block of Tarna Lane. A suspect reportedly took off on foot in the direction of Jane Long Middle School. According to HISD officials, a suspect was believed to be on school property.

The campus was placed on lockdown while Houston police and HISD police searched. Shortly before 3pm, two suspects were arrested off campus and the lockdown was lifted.
