AC unit may be to blame for house fire

HOUSTON It was about 11:15pm when smoke started pouring from a home on Eastwood at Griggs. The homeowner returned just as firefighters put out the flames. Firefighters say they were able to stop the flames before it destroyed everything.

"Of course it's uninhabitable right now," said Fred Hooker with the Houston Fire Department. "Like I say, the guys made a great stop on it. I'm really proud of them. They did a really good job."

While investigators are still working on the official cause, fire crews believe an air-conditioning unit may have sparked the flames.
