Tanker crash shuts down Gulf Freeway

An overturned tanker truck has created a massive traffic jam in southeast Houston and injured at least two people late Monday night. Police shut down Gulf Freeway near Dixie Farm Road to clean up spilled fuel.

One person is recovering after being injured in a tanker accident in southeast Houston. It happened just after 9pm last night on the Gulf Freeway at Dixie Farm Road. Police say the driver of a big rig carrying water waste lost control when a tire from his truck came loose and got caught under another tanker. The driver of the tanker slammed into a concrete wall, flipped over, and his rig caught fire.

That driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The wreck has since been cleared.
