Duo arrested after drug bust in Galveston

GALVESTON, TX Galveston resident Jose Eusebio Varela III, 30, and 24-year-old Toni Castaneda, of La Marque, were arrested and each charged with felony possession of marijuana and 3rd degree felony possession of codeine. Both are being held on bonds totaling $50,000.

On Friday, police raided two apartments in the 4800 block of Avenue P &One-Half after an ongoing investigation conducted by the Galveston Police Department's narcotics unit.

During their search of the residential units, detectives discovered 2.04 pounds of marijuana, 184 grams of codeine and $20,950 in cash.
