Long-time community activist Beulah Shepard dies

Her family says her health began to deteriorate when she had a stroke in 2007.

A long-time community activist in Acres Homes who has been influential in Houston politics has died. Family members tell us Beulah Shepard passed away today. She worked with commissioner E.A. Squatty Lyons for 25 years and later with Senator John Whitmire.

Shepard had a stroke in 2007, and family members say her health had deteriorated. She was 89 years old.
