Pearland isn't the only local team heading to the Little League World Series in Williamsport. A special needs team in Friendswood is one of two Challenger teams in the US invited to play a game at the big event. The Friendswood Challenger Team will be travelling to Williamsport, PA to participate in the Little League World Series. Only two Challenger teams in the United States are invited to the Little League World Series, so this is a huge honor for the local team.

The Challenger team is composed of special needs children in the Friendswood area. Players for the Mustangs range in age from 5 to 21, have to be identified by their schools as having special needs and must be enrolled in school to qualify.

"Buddies" will travel with the team as well. They are the team members' special friends who assist them on the field.

The team travels to Williamsport beginning on Thursday, August. They play their game on Saturday, August 28, facing a team from New Jersey.
