A head-on collision in southwest Houston left several people in the hospital Friday night. Police say the driver of a Grand Am lost control of the vehicle while on South Main near Kylewick. The car crossed the median and hit a Toyota Tercel head on. A family of five was in the Toyota. They all went to the hospital along with a passenger in the Pontiac.

Authorities are testing the driver of the Pontiac for alcohol. He tells police he was trying to avoid hitting an object in the road.
