In the next few days, Houston Mayor Annise Parker is expected to start interviewing applicants for the Houston Fire Department's new chief. According to the Houston Chronicle, the eight-month search for a replacement is down to 26 resumes. The applicants come from all over the country.

City records show interim Chief Rick Flanagan has applied for the position. Whoever is chosen will replace former Chief Phil Boriskie, who resigned in January.
