Texas looks at options for transportation

HOUSTON

The Texas Department of Transportation engineers gave presentations on a variety of topics including how the population growth in Texas affects the transportation system. The state also spoke about the best types of transportation to improve mobility including roadways, bicycle facilities, airports and passenger rail.

"We had people talking about the need for rail transportation between cities within the state," said Alan Clark, transportation director for the Houston-Galveston Area Council. "These are all the kinds of ideas that TxDOT is interested in."

The state's transportation plan will establish guidelines to address Texas' aging transportation infrastructure and growing population through 2035.
