What's free this weekend?

HOUSTON If you're ready to get some back-to-school shopping done, Staples has some great deals that end Saturday. If you buy any backpack either in the store, by phone or online, you'll get 100 percent of that cost back in a Staples gift card after an easy rebate. Fill your new backpack with school supplies that are just 25 cents and even a penny, plus lots of 'buy one, get one free' deals.

Friday night is the kickoff of the Houston Shakespeare Festival at the Miller Outdoor Theatre. The two plays, "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and "Much Ado about Nothing" will be performed on a rotating schedule until August 8, which can be found at the Miller Outdoor Theatre website. Each performance is at 8:30pm and tickets for the free show can be reserved at the theatre box office.

On Saturday, there is a blood drive hosted by the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center and Gringo's Mexican kitchen. You will receive a free $10 gift card to Gringo's when you donate blood. The blood drive will take place at four Houston area Gringo's locations -- Champions, Fuqua, La Porte and Texas City -- from 11am to 4pm.

If you want more free food, Taco Cabana is offering a free chicken fajita taco at participating locations on August 3 from 4pm to 5pm. It's one free fajita taco per person. Don't forget to sign up for their email club for an additional free fajita taco. This offer is good when you dine in or drive thru.

And if that's still not enough free food, Whataburger is celebrating their 60th birthday with a free Whataburger. The celebration is August 3 from 5pm to 8pm. All you have to do is wear orange. It's one free Whataburger per person and it's dine in only.

And it's back! Kids eat free all day Saturday at Luby's with the purchase of an adult meal. Check out Luby's.com for participating locations and don't forget Luby's has $2 kids meals every Wednesday after 4:30pm.
