Randalls in west Houston reopens after fire damage

HOUSTON Firefighters were called out to the Randalls on Voss near Woodway around 10:30pm Saturday night. The fire apparently started inside of a meat cooler. Firefighters say the entire store filled with smoke and many of the store's food and groceries would have to be thrown out because of the exposure.

"They ensured that the fire was out and then from then on, crews have been getting all the smoke out of the building to ensure that it's clear," said Capt. Jeff Cook of the Houston Fire Department.

A Randall's spokesperson told us the store was reopened after noon and is business as usual.

City health inspectors had to assess the damage before the store was able to reopen.
