Violent carjacking suspect arrested

GALVESTON, TX The woman was sitting in the passenger side of an idling car on 21st Street and Bernardo De Galvez Avenue when police say Timothy Allen Edwards jumped in and started driving. He would not let the woman out, and threatened to kill her.

Edwards eventually crashed into another car and that car ended up going over the seawall. The three people inside were hurt, but not seriously.

"We're very lucky he didn't kill anybody," Galveston Police Department Capt. Jeff Heyse said. "He could have killed somebody due to his driving."

Edwards was trapped in the car. As soon as firefighters got him out, police arrested him.

The kidnapped victim was not seriously injured.
