Tough break for Rice standout Anthony Rendon

HOUSTON He got his right foot caught under him in a rundown and has suffered what is believed to be multiple fractures in ankle and foot and he has reportedly dislocated the ankle as well.

It's the same ankle he injured in last year's NCAA super regional at LSU. He tore ligaments but recovered well enough to be named national player of the year this season. Rendon was, in fact, winner of just about every postseason honor.

The junior from Lamar High School is a good kid and teammate and this is just tough news. Dr. Tom Clanton performed the surgery on Rendon's ankle last year and will examine this injury Friday.
