Man arrested for allegedly hitting two people with bat

RICHMOND, TX The incident happened around 10:15pm Tuesday in the 700 block of Lettie in Richmond. Police say a group of people was standing in the driveway of a residence when an argument broke out. The suspect, Victor Alan Gomez, 22, hit two individuals in the head with what was determined to be either a baseball bat or a 2x4 piece of wood causing serious bodily injury.

Gomez and other individuals attempted to flee the scene in his vehicle, but crashed into another vehicle and ran over a mailbox before driving his car into a ditch. The suspect and several passengers then fled on foot.

While officers were investigating the incident, they received a call from the Richmond Police dispatcher stating that an individual matching the description of the suspect was in the lobby of the police department looking for his vehicle. When officers arrived at the police department the suspect tried to say that he left his keys in his vehicle and someone took it without his permission. Officers detained the suspect and brought him back to the scene where he was positively identified as the suspect who struck the two individuals.

Gomez was arrested and transported to the Fort Bend County Jail for two counts of aggravated assault, and failure to stop and give information for the accident. Bond has not yet been set.

Both of the victims were transported to Oak Bend Emergency Room by family where they were treated and released.
