Man escapes from scene of shooting

Candido Villegas is wanted on a charge of aggravated assault. He is accused of shooting a man while trying to aim for his estranged wife.

Detectives are searching for a 36-year-old man who allegedly shot a man while trying to shoot his estranged wife. Candido Villegas is charged with aggravated assault in connection to the June 15 at the home of his estranged wife, according to a Crime Stoppers statement.

Detectives say Villegas' wife thought he had come over to just talk when he pulled out a gun. The wife immediately ran from him, but Villegas allegedly pulled the trigger. However, the bullet struck a man standing in her driveway.

Villegas was able to escape from the scene after a crowd gathered at his wife's home.

Villegas is described as a Hispanic male who is 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs around 200 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes and is known to hang out near the 7400 block of Texas and Cesar Chavez.
