Deputy falls from roof while chasing copper thieves

HOUSTON Security guards spotted a man and woman tearing up wires on the roof of the empty store on Uvalde near Holly Park. Deputies used a ladder to climb on the roof and catch the woman, but the man managed to hide.

A K-9 unit eventually found the man an hour later and chased him to a nearby school where he was arrested.

During the search, a Deputy Luce was injured when a board gave way and he fell off the roof of the two-story building. He was conscious when he was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital by ambulance. He has since been released.

Betty Ann Jackson, 38, and Mark Anthony Horton, 45, have both been charged with burglary of a building.
