HOUSTON --
A mother is on trial, accused of doing nothing to prevent the beating death of her young daughter four-year old Emma Thompson. Emma died last year after suffering from a severed pancreas and fractured skull. Prosecutors have charged Abigail Young with injury to a child by omission. They say her then-boyfriend, Lucas Coe, is the one who assaulted the young girl. He is set to go on trial in September. Prosecutors say they are hoping to wrap up their part of the trial Wednesday or Thursday.
