Robber foiled by hungry off-duty cop

SAN DIEGO, CA Witnesses say the man barged in Saturday, smashed a heavy chain on the counter and ordered the employees into the kitchen. But before he could get the cash register opened, the sergeant pointed his gun at the man and told him to hit the floor.

As if the gun wasn't enough to end the robbery, witnesses say the suspect demanded to see the officer's badge. The sergeant did -- and the man was taken into custody.

Matthew Vough, 46, was taken in for attempted armed robbery.
