Thursday's storms left several drivers stranded

HOUSTON Rain flooded at least six locations along the Southwest Freeway. The water got so high that several cars stalled on the 59 service road near Chimney Rock. The downpour left some drivers stranded.

The flash floods trapped several drivers in the center lane of Richmond at the West Loop. One driver tells Eyewitness News he saw other cars getting through, so he thought it was safe to pass. His car stalled in the water and he was forced to get out and leave his vehicle while he called for help.

In some cases, the floods swelled up past car doors.

CenterPoint Energy says the storm knocked out power to about 11,000 customers.
