Delicately designed with tulle and crystal beading, a gown designed by Jasmine retails for $1,134, but at the Brides Against Breast Cancer Tour of Gowns, it can be yours for $500!
"We have gowns ranging on from $199 on up," explained Sheckeita Eaglin with Brides Against Breast Cancer.
The reason why the organization can afford to offer such low prices on designer gowns is because every single dress has been donated. Manufacturers, designers, retailers and individuals have all donated dresses to the Brides Against Breast Cancer organization.
Eaglin said, "The brides are really looking to save money on their gowns. Also, I like to express, they are also contributing to help grant a wish for a Stage 4 breast cancer patient as well."
The event will carry more than 1,700 dresses ranging from sizes zero up to 30. Many of the dresses retails for thousands of dollars. Designers such as Alfred Angelo, Amsale, Demetrios, Lazaro and Watters & Watters are just some of the famous names behind dresses that will be found 50 to 75 percent off the retail price.
Maggie Hamana with the Renaissance Hotel said, "What an honor to be able to assist these folks with getting these gowns that could be $8,500 and to be able to get them at (such a low) price tag, it's just unbelievable. Then those funds go to a cause that is able to take care of so many other wonderful females out there."
Most of the wedding gowns that are donated have never been worn. For example, there is a brand new Mori Lee beaded gown that retails for $830 at a bridal store, but the price at the Brides Against Breast Cancer event is $299.
The event is free this weekend at the Renaissance Houston Greenway Plaza Hotel. The hours are Saturday from 10am to 8pm and Sunday from 10am to 6pm. If you would like to get first dibs at those wedding dresses, Friday night from 6 to 10pm, for $25 you can shop early at the VIP event.
