Man wanted in fatal shooting at SW Houston motel

HOUSTON The suspect, Larry Darnell Scott, 49, is charged with murder in the June 17th killing of Derrick Melvin, 34, of Houston. Melvin suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene just before noon.

Authorities say Houston firefighters called police to 13612 Almeda after discovering Melvin deceased inside a room at the Almeda Inn. The investigation revealed that Melvin's vehicle was missing. It is a gray 2006 Chevrolet Impala with Texas license plates 979-VPK.

Further investigation identified Scott as the suspect in this case.
