Fiery crash kills driver on South Loop

HOUSTON It happened on the eastbound lanes of the freeway near Stella Link around 5am. Police say a blue Nissan was attempting to exit the South Loop East at Stella Link when it struck a silver Honda stopped in the moving lane of traffic for an unknown reason. The Honda then caught fire, killing the driver at the scene.

The driver of the Nissan was transported to St. Luke's Hospital for a possible broken arm.

Part of the South Loop was closed due to the police investigation.

Police say the investigation is continuing and the victim's identity has not been released.
