Couple die in apparent murder-suicide

HOUSTON Around 9:30pm Monday, deputies arrived at a home on Robert E. Lee Road and CE King Parkway. Investigators say they found the couple's two children, a 13-year-old girl and her 19-year-old brother, who told them their father shot and killed their mother, then killed himself.

Once deputies entered the house, they discovered both parents dead on the kitchen floor.

"Apparently they had been in an argument earlier tonight and the male shot the female and then shot himself," said Sgt. Curtis Brown with the Harris County Sheriff's Department.

The sheriff's office identified the dead couple as Jose Hernandez and Lucia Calletano. The children said their parents have had marital problems for several months.

Investigators are still looking into specifics as what led up to the shooting.
