Dead dogs found in freezer during rescue

HOUSTON The Houston Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals spent several hours taking custody of the dogs.

SPCA spokeswoman Meera Nandlal says there were animals everywhere in the home. SPCA says the animals ranged in age from days-old puppies to 14-year-old dogs.

The owners of the dogs reportedly admitted that this was a business and that the dogs were being breed for sale.

Four dead dogs were located in a freezer during the raid Tuesday night.

Upon arrival to the Houston SPCA, all of the dogs were given a medical evaluation and general health screening. A judge will determine the fate of the 161 dogs.
