Mother on trial for dumping her newborn in trash can

HOUSTON Genny Granados is charged with felony murder in the February 2008 death of her son. Police say Granados gave birth in a bathroom at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, and threw the baby in a trash can.

A custodian found the baby. He was revived, but taken off life support a few days later.

Granados faces anywhere from five years to life in prison if convicted of murder.
