Astros take DeShields, two others in MLB draft

HOUSTON With their first pick, number 8 overall, the Astros took Delino DeShields, Jr., a second baseman from Woodard Academy in Georgia. His dad, Delino, Sr., played 13 years in the big leagues.

With the 19th pick in the first round, the Astros took right-hander Mike Foltynewicz from Minooka Community high school in Illinois. Foltynewicz was a UT Longhorn recruit.

The Astros had an extra pick after the first round. At number 33, they took third baseman Mike Kvasnicka out of Minnesota.
