Suspect arrested in triple murder

HOUSTON Richard Glenn Harris, 48, was being sought by police in connection with the killing of three people whose bodies were found in a home near Hobby Airport Friday morning.

Police say at about 1am Saturday, Harris was found in the back seat of a Honda Accord with apparent self-inflicted stab wounds. He was arrested and taken to an area hospital, where is listed in critical/guarded condition.

BACKGROUND

The bodies of two women and a man were found inside a house on Randolph and Braniff near Hobby Airport Friday. Harris is from Colorado; he had a few domestic disturbance charges to his name but he's never before connected to murder.

"He has many times threatened to kill them," said Janice Moon, the sister of one of the victims. "And now he finally succeeded."

All three victims, one of whom was Harris' ex-girlfriend, had been stabbed and beaten, one sister killed in her bedroom, the other found in the kitchen. The body of a male identified as Billy Blessing was found near the front door.

A neighbor was leaving for work around sunrise when he says Harris walked over, asked for some money and confessed.

"He walked me over to the door, he opened up the door and said, 'You ready for this?'" said neighbor Terry Gray.

He called police anonymously, reporting trouble that needed to be checked out. A unit left without going inside. His wife finally went inside the house, saw the bodies and called police again. By then, Harris had already left.

"We believe it might have happened late last night or early morning," HPD Homicide's Dan Arnold said. "And Mr. Harris was probably here for some time before he fled, and he may be in the immediate area."

Around 2pm Friday, Harris is said to have robbed a pharmacy at knifepoint. He left his driver's license at the store, telling the clerk "so police could know who he is," detectives said.

A warrant was issued for Harris' arrest. He's now charged with three counts of capital murder because they were multiple slaying.
