Man rescued after falling into manhole in NE Houston

HOUSTON Police say the victim is a man from the neighborhood, who walked into an auto shop and was trying to talk to the employees there. However, the workers there were unable to understand what he was saying.

The man then walked outside and toward a crew cleaning out a manhole. He made his way around their service truck and reportedly tried to look down into the hole when he fell in.

Two men working on the manhole called 911 and firefighters were able to extricate the man after only a few minutes. He was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

The fire department did not tell us what kind of injuries he suffered or if they thought he was under the influence.
