Students across the U.S. and Mexico competed in a tough bilingual spelling bee this weekend. On Saturday, about 30 children from the third through eighth grades participated in the competition at Houston Baptist University. Students had to spell words in Spanish, translate them into English, then spell the word in English.

Organizers say they hope this event will encourage students to learn a second language.
