Two suspects charged in fatal shooting

HOUSTON Raymond Preston Moreno, 18, and David Chavez, 21, are accused of fatally shooting Favian Ramirez, 20, in the 11000 block of Sagevalley Drive around 1:30am on Wednesday.

Police say Moreno and Chavez were involved in an earlier disturbance with Ramirez. The two suspects later returned to the scene and shot in the direction of Ramirez's residence. Ramirez was struck and transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Patrol officers saw Moreno and Chavez fleeing the location in a vehicle and attempted to stop them. They fled and then crashed their vehicle into a pole. A police car was also struck by Moreno while attempting to flee. Moreno was transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the shooting and the two motor vehicle accidents. Chavez was arrested at the scene.
