Susan Wright, the woman who killed her husband by stabbing him nearly 200 times, has a new trial date that could lead to a reduced sentence. Susan Wright is currently serving a 25-year sentence for the 2003 murder of her husband Jeffrey. She has a new lawyer who argued for a new punishment trial on the basis that Wright suffered from battered woman's syndrome, but no such testimony was allowed at her murder trial.

The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals agreed Wright had ineffective counsel. Today a judge set October 15 as the start for Wright's new punishment trial.
