Pedestrian killed in serious accident in Dayton

DAYTON, TX The Dayton police department says the driver of the pickup was going to work down Highway 90 when he spotted a ladder in his lane. He made an evasive move to miss the ladder. He veered around it but ended up losing control and swerved across the right lane into the grass ditch between the road and the tracks.

That is where the Hispanic male was walking. He was struck by the pickup truck and then the truck flipped at least three times, according to police, before landing on the railroad tracks.

The pedestrian died at Memorial Hermann after being taken there by Life Flight. The driver was also hospitalized but he is expected to be OK.

The victim hasn't been identified. If you think know who the victim is, you're asked to call the Dayton police department at 936-258-7621.
