TEA opens investigation of school where student was beaten

HOUSTON A spokesperson with the TEA says the agency has opened an investigation into Jamie's House Charter School and is looking into additional incidents. The agency is concerned about the welfare and safety of the students there.

A TEA representative is visiting the school Thursday afternoon to conduct interviews. The school has been cited in the past for non-compliance in their special education program, including problems with teacher certification, attendance and participation in the TAKS test.

The TEA appointed a monitor on March 29, 2010, because of the non-compliance.
