DART dropping some bus routes to save money

DALLAS, TX Dallas Area Rapid Transit will eliminate nine bus routes by December, as full Green Line rail service opens.

The Dallas Morning News reported Wednesday that the DART board voted unanimously for the changes, which were compiled as a result of 15 public hearings.

The Green Line will stretch nearly 30 miles from Pleasant Grove to Carrollton, adding 15 stations to DART rail service, not including those opened in 2009 prior to the State Fair of Texas.

DART serves Dallas and a dozen surrounding cities in a 700-square-mile service area.
