The victim told police that she and her husband were at the crash site to look at the wreckage and speak with National Transportation Safety Board officials. She also told police that her husband had parked his truck across the street from the site adjacent to the driveway of the suspect. She told police that she was not sure where the wreckage was and was not sure where to park.
The victim relayed to police that when they returned to the vehicle, the suspect approached them in a threatening manner, yelling at them to leave his property. She told police that he displayed a handgun.
Decherd was booked into the Friendswood City Jail and he was later transferred to the Galveston County Jail. His bond was set at $40,000.
