Man fatally struck while crossing street in SE Houston

HOUSTON The man, said to be in his 60s, was struck while crossing Broadway at Dixie near the Gulf Freeway just before 6am Friday morning. The driver who struck the pedestrian told police she saw the man look towards her car and then the other way before walking out into the street. The driver told police she tried to avoid hitting him, but he kept walking and was struck.

The man was transported to Ben Taub Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The accident remains under investigation.
