Robbery suspect opens fire on deputies during chase

HOUSTON A man went to deposit money into an ATM off Woodforest near Uvalde at 2:30am when a suspect robbed him. The suspect took his cash, wallet and cell phone, and then drove off in the man's truck. The suspect tried to ram an officer's vehicle and then there was a chase.

"The suspect started shooting at our patrol cars," said Jasen Rabalais with the Precinct 3 Constable's Office. "He shot I think 5 to 6 rounds the first time and 5 to 7 rounds the second time."

The suspect later crashed and ran away. Authorities are still searching for him. The victim was shaken up, but will be OK.
