AP: NYC to charge $300 for film permits

NEW YORK Mayor Michael Bloomberg's administration is blaming budget woes.

City officials tell The Associated Press senior Bloomberg administration officials are announcing the proposal Tuesday to representatives from Hollywood studios, advertising and labor unions.

The fee would apply to films, commercials, music videos and television series shot in New York, such as the CBS drama "The Good Wife."

Television projects would pay the fee at the start of every season. All other shoots would pay it once for the entire project.

Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting Commissioner Katherine Oliver says the city has no other choice.
