Texans eye offensive guard Faneca

HOUSTON

The Texans need offensive line help, and 33-year-old Faneca has been available since the Jets released him.

His family is in Louisiana, and the Texans are a team on the upswing.

There's no offset deal in Faneca's contract, meaning he gets $5.25 million of the $7.27 million that's left on his contract despite being released.

When he does sign, none of that $5.25 million will count against the total, so he'd basically being getting paid twice.

A very reliable, high placed agent tells ABC13 he thinks the Texans would find negotiating with him favorable.

There are other suitors, and Rick Smith is in touch with Faneca's agent, also named Rick Smith.
