Free fun for pets and more

HOUSTON The Houston Dog Park Association is hosting a dedication ceremony and celebration Saturday at the new TC Jester Bark Park in northwest Houston. The event takes place from 2-4pm. The schedule of events include a personal dog behavior education session, refreshments, dog DJ jams and face painting. Donations are welcome and if you donate to the organization, the Little Bitty Burger Barn will give you a free burger coupon!

It's not free but pretty close to it, so mark your calendar for next Wednesday, April 28. It's 31 cents ice cream day at Baskin Robbins in honor of America's firefighters! In addition, the Baskin Robbins Community Foundation is donating $100,000 to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Baskin Robbins ice cream shops will charge only 31 cents for a scoop of ice cream, limit three scoops per person. There are 16 locations in the Houston area.

Enjoy more cheap ice cream, this time at Dairy Queen. You still have time to celebrate the 25th birthday of a Dairy Queen Blizzard! To show their appreciation, Dairy Queen is offering a deal. If you buy one at regular price Blizzard, you'll get one for 25 cents. The deal ends at close of business Sunday night. No coupon is needed.

This weekend the Home Depot has several free do it yourself clinics and seminars. This Saturday from 10-11am, you'll learn how to conserve water and reduce your water bill. Just an hour later from 11am to noon, staff members will teach you how to plant a vegetable garden. Then from 1-2pm, learn how to properly install a ceiling fan. On Sunday there are to two workshops -- preparing your lawn for warmer weather from 1-2pm and choosing the right countertop from 2-3pm, complete with advice on how to install it yourself.
