Rail construction to begin downtown

HOUSTON In late April, light rail construction will begin on Capitol, Rusk and San Jacinto streets in downtown Houston. According to METRO, this work includes the relocation of private utility lines on Capitol from La Branch to Chartres, on Rusk from Fannin to Jackson, and on San Jacinto from Rusk to Capitol. Some lane closures will be required to complete the work. However, at least two lanes of traffic will remain open during construction.

METRO offers the following advisories:

  • Businesses and residences will remain accessible
  • Parking lots and garages will remain accessible, though there may be construction occurring nearby
  • Certain sidewalks and crossings may be closed to ensure your safety. Pedestrian detours will be clearly marked
  • During construction, please be aware of detour signage and follow accordingly.
